Meetings currently are held the fourth Tuesday of each month from 7 to 10 p.m. Roughly 25 people attend the monthly meetings and the group is interested in purchasing and serving a meal during the meeting. Supplies needed include bookbags, No. 2 pencils, pens, notebook binders, notebook paper, composition books, glue sticks, school glue, markers and crayons. The children sponsored range in age from pre-K to college-bound. Donations can be dropped off at Champions for Children, 810 Olympic Drive between the hours of 7 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Also need air purifiers; queen/king bed sheets; untreated 2-by-6-inch lumber; gift cards to Lowe's, Home Depot and Pet Supplies Plus; backup generator; computer; services to build a sunroom; sheets; and blankets. Shampoo, deodorant, shaving cream, soap, toothpaste and tooth brushes are needed. The sixth Annual Teacher Reuse Store on Aug. 7 will provide usable classroom materials to certified educators in Clarke, Madison, Oconee and Oglethorpe counties at no cost. Items are needed by Aug. 4.
